Testing and Handling Hazardous Materials
Some older RVs and boats may contain asbestos in insulation, flooring, or adhesives. When asbestos is suspected, Island Junk Solutions arranges professional testing before any dismantling begins. If asbestos is confirmed, certified abatement contractors handle removal under WorkSafeBC regulations. The material is sealed and transported to approved CRD or RDN landfill sites that accept asbestos.
Recycling and Disposal Commitment
Our goal is to recycle as much material as possible. Clean metals are sent to recycling facilities, and reusable parts are salvaged when feasible. Non-recyclables and hazardous materials are separated and taken to CRD and RDN-approved disposal facilities. This process reduces landfill waste and ensures large items are managed in a way that protects both the environment and the community.
